SOME SWISSAIR PROPS

Below, postcards from my collection are shown per aircraft type.

Note: This is NOT a COMPLETE fleet list for Swissair!

Naming of Swissair aircrafts

These are my thoughts on the subject.
If someone knows for sure and I have misunderstood something I would very happy to get feedback so I can correct myself.

I belive that different aircrafts also carried the names of Swiss Cantons (some carried City names). In addition, a small picture of the "Coat of Arms" can be found on the foreward part of the fuselage of the aircraft. I believe this started after WWII with the addition of DC-4s to the fleet.

I have used this "extra" info when I have tried to identify different Swissair aircrafts on my postcards.
The pictures of the Coat of Arms have been taken from
[Wikipedia: Flags and arms of cantons of Switzerland]
